  1. Just to say thank you all so much for our superb lunch (Saturday 23rd April). It was our second visit , and if at all possible was even better than our first.
Staff, quality and presentation of the food, the design of the restaurant - could not be better.

Just wish you would open another nearer to where we live !

  2. Lunched at Verveine yesterday for the first time and it certainly won't be the last. The fish was outstanding, the staff pleasant and attentive and the meal excellent value for money. This restaurant deserves to do well and we are looking forward to our next visit.

  3. Some ten years ago we received a recomendation from a well know chef from the north of Cornwall that the nearest place to our home in a very landlocked Oxfordshire to buy very good fresh fish was the wonderful Monk and Sons, Keyhaven Rd, Milford on Sea. "Where?" I questioned. "Milford on Sea..... it's near Lymington". So. off we went. What we found was a gem, fresh fish and more fresh fish. Ever since we returned time and time again to fill our coolbox with fishy delights for our freezer. One day Chris Monk introduced us to Stacey and David, the people who had just bought the shop allowing him to enter a well deserved retirement on the golf course. "Do you have plans" I asked them, "Oh yes, we will be opening a restaurant".
Well Monk and Sons is now Verveine Fishmarket and Restaurant and you can still buy the best fresh fish and now there's the restaurant and BLIMEY what a restaurant. Our first visit today has been a total and complete success, from the wonderful home made bread, the truffle with the Cep risotto to the perfectly cooked monkfish cheeks, David, Ross and the team in the kitchen produced the best food we have eaten in a long long time and Stacey and the front of house delivered with charm and good humour. We emplore you to go! try it, try the tiger prawns, try the slow cooked chicken wings, try the marsh samphire, try the Coca Cola from a glass bottle. And when you have finished, be delighted with the value.
Best and warmest regards, Peter and Caroline.

  4. We decided that morning to go 'Camping in the New Forest' except it was a Friday in August and we hadn't booked anything! This led us to Milford on Sea and then a brisk evening walk around the village and seafront. We spotted Verveine on the outward leg of our walk and found ourselves irresistibly drawn back. The happy convivial atmosphere inside was leaking infectiously into the street. Despite having no reservation, we were in luck as some guests were about to leave. And what luck - this is exactly what eating out should be - impeccable food beautifully presented and service of the highest standard yet friendly and charming. We felt genuinly welcome, there was a refreshing openness in the approach of all the staff, and the central kitchen continued this. The decor was light and fresh with quality natural materials and had resisted the all too common seaside themes that fish restaurants tend to nod towards.

The fish was the freshest and cooked with respect for its delicate taste and texture. There were imaginative accompaniments which actually worked. The wines were carefully considered. The trio of ice creams we had for dessert were a revelation with lightness combined with fresh fruit flavours. The enthusiastic chef Dave, clearly showed us his passion for his work in the conversations we were able to have as we were seated near the open kitchen. Stacey and Jon are caring and concientious hosts. They have a winning formular which is justly successful. We will be back.

  5. What can we say THE BEST MEAL WE HAVE EVER EATEN! What a fantastic place we feel so lucky to have such a fantastic resturant in our area. The mussels were soft and suculent, the lobster was incredible and we enjoyed it even more when the properitor informed us it was sourced at the mouth of the Beauliue River a stones throw away from Milford local food at its best. Then came the desert a taste of chocolate, white chocolate and raspberry the chocholate fondant was cooked to perefection at that point I was in food heaven, there was however a further suprize with the coffee, home made petit fours with salted carmel which was probably one of the best things I have ever tasted! The properitor was exteremly welcoming and the atmosphere was excellent, this was helped by the open kitchen. It was like being at a great friends for the meal of your life, frankly if any of my friends produced the sensational food we had at Verveine I do not think I would ever leave!

Thank you thank you thank you and we will be back very soon!

  6. I recently had lunch at your delightful restaurant and loved the way the menu works - very innovative. The fish was very fresh and the presentation was amazing - I had smoked eel as a starter which arrived with the dramatic glass bell full of smoke. Not usually a desert eater my sister and I decided to share the blueberries - what a treat.

As a visitor from Australia I am often critical about British service, however it was excellent. Out of all the meals I had over a months stay this was the best, but sadly not many of our friends in Brockenhurst knew about you. From the front of the shop it hard to see that there is a restaurant there.

Keep up the good work and I will definitely be back on my next trip.

  8. The warm welcome received as you enter this delightful restaurant is the start of an amazing food experience!
The food was exquisite! With a large variety of fish served in a choice ways, I tried Mackeral for the first time and it was fabulous! The scallops were delicious....as. was the lobster and prawns.........
An intermediate course was a powerful burst of flavours to delight your palate.
The dessert was a deconstructed black forest gateau....beautifully presented and truly delicious, the cherry sorbet and chocolate brownie was the best I have ever tasted.

Throught the meal the meal the service was constantly friendly and attentive, the restaurant was attractive warm and welcoming.
I can't wait to go back and try a different combination ..............it is probably the best meal I have had in a long time!

  9. Thank you, thank you for the meal of our lives. We had such fun and the food was simply amazing - certainly the best meal we've had in the New Forest or indeed ever! The helpful advice for the 'fish virgins' was spot on and at no point did the spectacular presentation outshine the flavour. A real joy - thank you again.

  10. We had the pleasure to visit Verveine last weekend, there is nothing about our whole experience that could have been any better, the owners and staff are very friendly, informative and helpful, the ambience was perfect and the food, well the food was amazing, love the concept, loved the intermediate, love the place, just a shame its a 3 hour drive from where we live otherwise we would be in there every week, just once a month will have to do.....

  11. We had the pleasure of dinning at you restaurant on Wednesday. Wonderful from the friendly greeting we got from the young man. We were greeted like old friends. My boyfriend joked how long had I known him! The food was fantastic. By far the best fish we ever had. The personal touches made it a place to revisit. It was the first break we had together (we are no spring chickens) and your restaurant made it all the more memorable. We wish you every the success.
    Yours gratefully
    Sally and Brian

  13. We have been to Verveine three times since it opened 6 months ago and each time it has been great but we thought last night was the best meal we’d had for ages.
The food is wonderful – great fresh fish locally sourced where possible; lovely relaxed atmosphere and beautiful surroundings; friendly and welcoming staff who really know and love what they are selling; thoughtful touches and no hidden surprises in the bill. What more could you want.
We have eaten in a number of restaurants locally but given the choice Verveine would be top of our list every time.
